Long await to receive the day
Mind ablaze to mark the date
Seventeen presents he wish to unwrap
Seventeen, the year he plan to unwind.
Seventeen times forgiveness to unbrand
His sixteenth seemed to dent
Laid him sixteen roses at a grave
A life not well spent, but for him she gave.
She was sixteen with no time to plan
That day seventeenth at dawn
They crested her with seventeen thorns
Her innocence was fleeced.
The dawn she was violated more than twice
And good justice was denied her thrice
Though pain is a sordid killer
Timely forgiveness is a true healer.
